CMA, History, Mission, Vision and Values
This website help me to know more about the CMA and their aims within Canada. It helps me also prep my simulation. And I have written my speech for the simulation of the federal budget that will be held on March 22nd in KCIC Acadia Room--boardroom.

« A great future lies before the Canadian Medical Association. The ground of its foundation is so firm and the reasons for its existence and extension are so substantial and vital that one need not fear for its success. From its own intrinsic worth it will move on, overcoming difficulties. It is destined to become one of the principal factors in influencing Canadian public opinion and the parliaments and in bringing about changes and reforms of the greatest value to the health and well-being of the state and individual…” Dr. H. Goodsir Mackid, CMA President 1912
Politician for a term, Docters for life
Dr. W.S. Harding
Delegate from New Brunswick was so affected by Dr. Sewell’s Speech that he said “Honour delegate it is expedient that the medical professions of the dominion of Canada form a better a Medical Association and it will be called the Canadian Medical Association” which marked the historic resolution that will change their lives and the lives of Canadians forever.

Reactions of different group interestst to the Federal Budget Cuts
Council of Canadians:
In this website, a letter has been written to Tell the Prime Minister, Environment Minister Peter Kent and the leaders of the opposition that they are opposed to this decision. And they made it avaible online for anyone who wants to vote against this decision.
Young Canadians:
In this website, facebook page, videos, placards and phone call were used to address their displeasure toward Harper's decision to cut Federal budget on the environment and denounced the fact that the government is spending $1.4 billion for the wealthiest companies instead of paying off two-thirds of all students loans taken out last year.
350 or burst:
A diagram made by Cameron Fenton, has been used in this website to illustrate what the cuts will entail and they denounced the waste that Harper's government are doing in other field such as national security and Canadian Border Services. And they use also vidoe with the help of some humorists like Janeane Garafolo.
Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives:
The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives decides to denounce the fact that nowadays, Canadian military funding is at its highest level, thanks to sempiternal budget increases while the one for the environment is being cut.

FEDERAL BUDGET 2011 CUTS TO THE ENVIRONMENT
CANADIAN federal budget 2011 cuts to the environment
Natural Resources Canada is estimating a $928-million (21%) decrease in its spending for the next year, including a $390-million decrease in spending due to the end of a popular retrofit program that subsidized homeowners for renovations that reduce energy consumption and utility bills.
Other funding cuts at Environment Canada include a $19.5-million reduction related to the government winding down an action plan to deal with contaminated federal sites, as well as about $3 million (four per cent) in reductions for compliance promotion and enforcement for wildlife and pollution.
I do not know why Mr Harper's government are doing this knowing that they want to be among the best when it comes to environment awareness and accountability. Harper's government has decided to cut the federal budget 2011 to the environment and put more money in law and order (National Defence spending is $21.185 billion in 2009-2010, making Canada’s rank 13th highest in the world, and 6th highest among NATO’s 28 members, dollar for dollar. “Government spending on National Defence is twenty times that of federal Environment Department spending,” said Robinson. “By comparison, the Department of the Environment was allocated only $1.064 billion.”
The most amazing thing is that 71% of Canadians are against this decision because they think that Climate change is unfolding even faster than previously predicted and the gap between spending on the environment and climate change and defence is so huge, according to Environics poll, "money spent on wars and the military would all be better spent on efforts that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the impacts of climate change.” but it is as if they were deaf.
US federal budget 2011 cuts to the environment
The US government thinks that decreasing federal spending is no longer just a prudent choice; it is now an unavoidable necessity. Accordingly, President Obama has proposed to cut EPA’s annual budget nearly 13%. But they carry on protecting those companies (coal companies, oil companies and so on- because they create job probably more than those "environmentally friendly" -) that "only" enhance global warming (consciously or unconsciously) as well explained by James Lovelock in his book entitled The Vanishing Face Of Gaia.
By taking such a decision Obama's government should be aware of the consequences given that, according to the EPA:
"These cuts mean our drinking water has a far greater chance of contamination," We are facing touch economic times, but tough times call for intelligent decision-making and wisdom, not reckless cuts that will do more harm than good."
By mean of conclusion, I will just say that both US' and Canada's government are wrong with their respective decision, even though they just want to the right thing for their respective citizens. Always is it that the environment is really important for us since we're human being and that we need clean air and space(environment) in order to tackle other decisions such as those mentionned above.

You Should Have Stayed At Home
The G20 held on Friday, June 25th, 2010 in Toronto was one of the worst summit in the history of Canada. This documentary was done by Gillian Findlay
As you may hear at the beginning of the video protesters yelling "Tell me what democracy looks like?" and these protesters came from various horizon in Canada marching for all kind of reasons.
And the police designated Queens Park as the zone of Free Speech.
I am just wondering why there were TEN THOUSANDS policemen during that weekend? And why they were acting so aggressively with protesters, treating them almost like "wild beast".
John's case (a man who walks with two walking stick) for instance was shocked by the massive police presence yonder only for the well progress of the summit until they lost the control of it and were now compelled to regain it by 5pm o'clock and for that they just found a way to be as aggressive as possible with peaceful protesters and citizens- because we still do not know if all the people there were protesters or merely pedestrians-. specially if there were wearing black colour.
Even if they were doing their job (they were instructed to do what was necessary to ensure the wall around the G20 Conference Centre was never breached. ) it was in a inhuman way. The way they treated John was awful since this guy had a prostetic leg (one would think that they have not realized) that they were hurting him even though he yelled.
John was not the one to be ill-treaded during that weekend, there was also Dorian who was taking a picture, and received a hit without being warn by policemen coming from nowhere and dragged him like a "black sheep" with his hand till it was broke and when he asked them for help he was told that he will receive medical attention in five hours with his hand still handcuffed.
This explain why protesters were yelling ""We are people, about you ?" because their acts were not those we know we people.
Why did they designate a free speech zone if they were going to ill-treat them?
These agents are a threat to civil liberties. At the very beginning, they were supposed to preserve the democratic principles, to protect liberty and freedom, and to restore the public trust in government and its security forces not to treat people like tools or whatever.
It's as if I was playing one level of Gran Theft Auto(GTA)-a video game series created in the United Kingdom- while watching this documentary because "There were a police barricade at every turn as if it was a war. So they were trapped and arrested'. And according toMarie Poisson from Quebec the agents were saying ' fucking frenchy go back to Quebec"the policemen said to Quebec's students."The policemen were overarmed only for students this is unbelievable, isn't? and they hit the peaceful protesters without any valuable reasons. Dragging people without any kind of respect just like beast, these people were treated. Can you imagine, they received foods only twelve hours after their arrest. People were stripped search because they protested peacefully. Where is democracy? where is the freedom of expression?
At the end, not only does dorian has hand dislocated and arm broken but also he was charged for abstracting a police officer and unlawful demonstration. I guess they did that to cover their backs since they injuerd him.
More than eleven hundred people (OMG for those who do not know =Oh My God) were arrested that weekend, seven hundred and nine were never charged with anything and they were warned never protesting again.
Ninety five police security cameras recorded, twenty two thousand hours of video tape so how can the Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said that he had not seen any bad behaviours from his colleagues? but dared to give an explanation of why police took the actions they did. Therefore, to say that the Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Harper had "no way of knowing?" what was going on is hard for me and I guess for every one to believe.
Some say that what happened that weekend were so uncanadian. "Exclusive eyewitness video obtained by the fifth estate brings to light startling images captured on cellphones and minicams by the innocent bystanders who found themselves on the wrong side of all that G20 'order'."
The G20 marked the biggest mass arrest in Canadian history (I will even say the shame of every Canadian and humanity as well.
Massive abuse of the power of police but they dared to say in fact that what "what they were doing were for their protection.) "No democracy" after Marie Poisson during the G20 of last June.
I think the worse is that these people were accused by the Toronto's agents of something they have not done and spend two days in jail without, clothes and a place to sleep. There is no justification for something like this to happen anywhere in a world specially in a country like Canada well know for its good reputation.I'm just wondering how these officers would feel if their families were beaten and arrested for no reason other than protesting peacefully, which is their right as a Canadian citizen. The actions of the police that day were disgusting.
The worse is that NOTHING will happen to any agents who broke laws that day and that really sucks.
what was done to the peaceful protesters and bystanders cannot be forgiven and must be challenged in court this disgraceful deeds.
I am proud and happy that all the protesters who I hope, despite what happened, still believe they have a right to raise their voices against injustice.
What's Happening in Bahrain Explained?
There is nothing to be suprised of because a letter had been sent to Hillary Clinton the Secretary of State before she went to Bahraini by the Bahraini human roghts organizations letting her know that the "government's escalating human rights abuses" but because of political stuffs probably because of oil and some other opportunities they have within the country she chose not to heed such claims against a staunch US ally. And now she is the one to say that this regime must respect and take into consideration the international human rights...goodness knows why.
I do not think that what happened in Egypt or Tunisia can happen in Bahrain because people are divided in communities thing which is not good at all for the road to democracy. So I think what need to be done is to forget all about communities and join both hands meet to fight for the sake of democracy and freedom of speech no matter what your beliefs are. That is what the people form Egypt and Tunisia did.
Most of the protestors are youth shiite and their aim is to garner media attention and by doing so spark the process toward first the overthrow of the current regime and secondly pave the way to democracy but it would be better for them if they want to achieve this goal, to do it with the other communities as we all know that "Unity is strentgh".

what's going on in Libya?
It is a good way to quickly update those who have not been keeping up with the breaking news. I found this article to be extremely helpful since they are spreading the information and that is what is most important right now, making sure that as many people as possible know what's happening.
Forty-two years under the yoke of the repressive and eccentric tyrant who has no respect for his own country since himself call his people "backward". I mean this is awful how can someone qualifies people like that who has the right to say that some people are "backwards" or "updates". It is understandable enough why today, Libyans no longer put up with a man who wants to "wipe out" his own people. Perhaps the pro-democracy uprisings in the Arab world helped them to take inspiration and gave them audacity to react against such a dictator.
I really like the way a 2006 New Yorker article described the country "Prosperity without employment and large population of young without a sense of purpose." This fit them utterly because they have everything for their own (oil and young and dynamic people) but they just do not know how to take advantage of it and that really sucks.
I can't believe that people consider such a person like "a leader" and even call his son "the principal" maybe it's because of the pressure they put on them I guess. Above all that his son has founded the QICDF which stands for "Quaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation" in order to promote human rights and fight against the use of torture not only in Libya but in all accross the Middle East and we noticed that they are the first no to fight for freedom and respect of those rights mentionned above...as they punished anyone who protests against their regime because according to the New york times, "Both protesters and the security forces have reason to believe that backing down will likely mean their ultimate death or imprisonment." Additionally, how can a founder of such a foundation can lay such words "we will fight until the last man, until the last woman, until the last bullet" only because some people are against his father's regime.
Where is the democary ?
Where is the freedom of expression and assembly in all that?...or is it just fictious?

What's Happening in Algeria Explained
One may ask the following questions ?
Will the march take place?
Will people lose their lives in an effort to better their living conditions? Will the world notice this time... or will this be kept under wraps again whilst the world celebrates the downfall of Mubarak?
Let's hope the people of Algeria are encouraged by the example of Egypt and are able to stand firm in their fight for democracy.
